The soul of the sword

The sword has not soul, but its bearers and history do.

This is a new project that I hope will please you, and make you enjoy as much as I do.

It is about putting a face to the swords, it is about to see the soul of the swords.

We can truly see how the uniforms and the people which bore the swords looked like through old photographies or pictures and drawing from that period.

From 1500 till around 1850, due to the obvious difficulty of getting the photographies, as they didn´t exist at all, I will use pictures & engravings made in the characters corresponding period.

About to the classification of the picture, I use the same criterion as in the book ESPADAS ESPAÑOLAS MILITARES Y CIVILES.

I also have divided them in five groups, and inside each group the pictures have been listed by the swors, cutlass or machete file order and never using the date of the uniform or the character.

     CLASSIFICATION EXAMPLES:

1.- Example by using the following photographies.

     - Isabel II Artillery Officer with cutlass model from 1862

-Alfonso XIII Artillery Officer with cutlass model from 1862

(Both photographies will be classified in the group 3 about saber and the year 1862 be the weapons model).

2.- In the case of civil photographies, they will be classified by the name and civil forces or group they belong to.

     - Example: Knight of the Real Maestranza from Seville.

It will be included in the group 5 for being civil and following the alphabetical order: MASE (Maestranza Sevilla)
